Material for our kitchen carcass

Cabinets’ carcass must be stable and durable. Most common materials for kitchen cabinets are particle board, oriental strand board and plywood. They have different strengths in durability and cost. But all of them are ideal material for kitchen cabinets.

Particle Board (PB)

Particle board has had an enormous influence on furniture design. In the early 1950s, particle board kitchens started to come into use in furniture construction but, in many cases, it remained more expensive than solid wood. A particle board kitchen was only available to the very wealthy. Once the technology was more developed, particle board became cheaper.

In general the much lower cost of sheet goods (particle board, medium density fiberboard, and other engineered wood products) has helped to displace solid wood from many cabinetry applications. (quote from wiki)

Wood chips of particle board are made of solid wood, processed under high pressure and temperature. Wax, dyes, wetting agents and release agents are involved in PB production to aid processing or make the final product water resistant, fireproof, or insect proof.

A thin layer (decorative laminate) is laminated over the surface of the particle boards. Lamination increases the beauty as well as the durability of the board to some extent.

9-layer Plywood

Our plywood comprises nine sheets of wood. Each sheet is made of solid wood.
Plywood is a popular choice for making kitchen cabinets and other furniture. It is made from thin sheets of veneer that have been peeled from debarked wood. These thin sheets are glued with resin and pressed into one sheet. Multilayer plywood has a great strength and stability that resists shrinkage and expansion due to its cross-graining pattern.

Strong screw holding capacity to keep cabinet structure stable and long service.
Featuring excellent water resistance. Immersing in water for 24 hours can only cause shape change by 3%.

Formaldehyde emission for plywood ≤ 0.5mg/L, eco-friendly and complying with European class E0 standard. Shewell is the professional kitchen carcass manufacturer, kitchen carcass for sales, welcome to consult kitchen carcass wholesale price.

Oriented strand board (OSB)

Oriented strand board is manufactured in wide mats from cross-oriented layers of thin, rectangular wooden strips compressed and bonded together with wax and synthetic resin adhesives.

OSB is a material with favorable mechanical properties that make it particularly suitable for load-bearing applications in construction. It is now more popular than plywood, commanding 66% of the structural panel market. The most common uses are as sheathing in walls, flooring, and roof decking. For exterior wall applications, panels are available with a radiant-barrier layer pre-laminated to one side; this eases installation and increases energy performance of the building envelope. OSB also sees some use in furniture production. (quote from wiki)

A good quality of stable structure, water resistance, anti-impact.
Formaldehyde emission≤ 0.5mg/L, eco-friendly and complying with European class E0 standard. OSB has a less emission result than other engineered panels. Excellent zero emission could be achieved if processing is well controlled.

Recommended dimensions

Floor cabinet: height 680mm * depth 550mm
Wall cabinet: height 680mm * depth 330mm
